Reports are suggesting Everton's sudden urge for obscure, right sided defenders comes as a result of Phil Neville needing an ankle operation.

If accurate, it would be another bitter pill for David Moyes to swallow, with Tony Hibbert also sidelined. It is believed Neville has been playing through the pain barrier since the back end of last season.

Record.pt, a respected Portuguese newspaper, is claiming that Everton could still go back in with an increased offer for Joao Moutinho, although the chance is "remote.

Everton have apparently had one enquiry ignored but could still go back with an offer of 20m Euros according to the paper.

Albert Riera is set to snub Everton and move to Liverpool after Espanyol and the Anfield club battled out a new deal which reflects the value of Everton's bid.

The Blues had attempted to hijack Liverpool's bid by offering the Spanish club what they actually want for the player, but he has stuck to his guns in his bid to move to Liverpool.

Being from hundreds of miles away, we can expect, in broken English, a statement saying that Liverpool were his boyhood club once he signs.

Printer friendly version  Email to a friend. Keith Wyness- Kenwright's human shield?
Posted by Written by Joe on 19 Jul : 16:33
Article Much has been made of Keith Wyness since he became Chief Executive of Everton Football Club, often his name not only harbours negative connotations, but acrimony and distrust.

He’s threatened legal action to fans who provide thought provoking analysis, he’s revelled in his bonuses, he’s even championed the potential of a certain Kirkby proposal, but what is this man’s REAL agenda, what is he about?

A part of me pities Mr Wyness. For he has, undeniably, become saddled with Destination Kirkby. His reputation, not to mention his credibility - have both decreased significantly. Yet has he proved his own downfall? Ill-informed, horrendous statements have become legendary amongst Evertonians, with the “deal of the century” proving the most humorous and irritating at the same time.

Reports have suggested that Wyness often revels within personal gain, frequently misusing his position of power to benefit himself. Now I’m not talking about popping to Tesco in his company car, but actively selling his own business interests in Everton’s time.

The majority of level headed Everton supporters realise and accept that Goodison Park is falling to pieces and the move to a new stadium or a redevelopment of the current footprint simply must occur.
However, for such a huge proposal; relocating a massive institution that for 128 years has been a focal point of the city, transparency on what is on offer is an imperative.

Sadly, for one reason or another, this has proved impossible. Mr Wyness has bore the brunt of a disgruntled mandate “minority”, yet can he really be blamed, is he merely a shit deflector? Naturally, many will doubt a project that Keith Wyness and Everton Football Club would have you believe has no glitches, too good to be true.

Many have come to realise that by trusting certain individuals at Everton, you do so at your peril. Only now is the message starting to spread, beginning to broadcast that fans have had enough of half truths, ill informed platitudes and white lies.

Throughout the whole Kirkby proposal, too much information has been misplaced, possibly deliberately held back? It has become crystal clear, now more than ever; that many accurate, informed questions remain untouched, unanswered. If the move does occur, can we tell our grandchildren that all the options were explored? I think we all know the answer.

The Everton chairman, one would assume, had known about the potential of what was on offer at Kirkby whilst appointing Wyness. It’s fair to say Kenwright has endured a troublesome time since taking over as chairman, surely he wouldn’t want to destroy two stadium proposals? Therefore Wyness was saddled, whether fair or otherwise, and left to deflect and appease a fan base that refuses to be muted. Stifling debate has proved impractical, Wyness has had to ride the wave of abuse and just about escape, yet will his position be untenable if Kirkby collapses?

Keith Wyness hasn’t helped himself with his empty promises, actively refusing to speak to fans, issuing legal threats and generally adopting an arrogance that has proved notably unpopular among Evertonians. Everybody has an opinion, but what about the Everton junkie that appointed him, it would seem to me that by appointing a controversial figure (one that proved vastly unpopular with supporters of Aberdeen) seemed logical to Kenwright, perhaps he anticipated the acrimony? Is Wyness merely Kenwright’s human shield, his barrier to abuse, it would certainly seem that way.

If he IS merely a shit deflector then he's more than adequately paid for the job and I'm sure being called 'a duplicitious fat bastard' on occasion really doesnt matter much when he's checking his bank balance. I accept that in a role such as his, youre damned if you do, damned if you dont. But this fella has 'previous' and I dont trust him one bit. If he oversees our club's move to Kirkby it will be a sad day for me and for many, many blues who believe we've been consistently lied to regarding the whole Desperation Kirkby debacle.

Oh and btw, GP is NOT falling to pieces in my opinion - thats just what they'd LIKE you to believe!
