Reports are suggesting Everton's sudden urge for obscure, right sided defenders comes as a result of Phil Neville needing an ankle operation.

If accurate, it would be another bitter pill for David Moyes to swallow, with Tony Hibbert also sidelined. It is believed Neville has been playing through the pain barrier since the back end of last season.

Record.pt, a respected Portuguese newspaper, is claiming that Everton could still go back in with an increased offer for Joao Moutinho, although the chance is "remote.

Everton have apparently had one enquiry ignored but could still go back with an offer of 20m Euros according to the paper.

Albert Riera is set to snub Everton and move to Liverpool after Espanyol and the Anfield club battled out a new deal which reflects the value of Everton's bid.

The Blues had attempted to hijack Liverpool's bid by offering the Spanish club what they actually want for the player, but he has stuck to his guns in his bid to move to Liverpool.

Being from hundreds of miles away, we can expect, in broken English, a statement saying that Liverpool were his boyhood club once he signs.

Article Since last year’s AGM, there have been a lot of issues raised among Everton supporters, not least the fact that the finer details of the Kirkby move have been brought to light, and rather than providing answers, they raise even more questions.

From the financing of the move, especially now that planning permission to build on Bellefield has been rejected (which made up £15m of the payment towards a move to Kirkby) to the frankly laughable transport issues – questions need answering by the board.

From the clauses in the planning application that state that the stadium will not be allowed to host money-spinning concerts in Kirkby, to the fact that the capacity of the stadium is to be reduced if public transport cannot cope with demand on matchdays – questions need answering.

But even away from the Kirkby move, there are issues that the board needs to tackle. Today an announcement was made that the new home shirt will now not be available for an extra two weeks – raising the issue of whether or not the outsourcing to JJB is really working.

Rumours have surfaced that Andrew Johnson is to be sold to Wigan in order to fund David Moyes’ summer spending in the local media. Why is this necessary? Why is it likely that the manager will be forced to lose players before he can bring more in? Everton have a current crop of 18 fit outfield players – is this enough to continue to challenge for fifth, fourth, or dare we dream it, higher?

The club have so far been silent as far as these issues are concerned – save for Bill Kenwright saying he knows nothing about the transport plans for Kirkby at a recent meeting with the Everton Supports London Area group. Keith Wyness has spoken more about the doomed 39th Premier League game than he has answering questions that are important to Everton’s future – even his “open door” policy of meeting fans’ groups that he was so proud of when he first arrived has been slammed shut.

David Moyes’ only comments – and rightly so – have been that Andrew Johnson is still in his plans for next season, only to see reports a week later that the striker may be sold.

Answers and reassurances are needed, and it would seem that a forced EGM is the only way to get those reassurances. Blind faith can only take us so far, we need the board to come out publicly and answer the questions raised by the recent petition for such a meeting, and if you have received a form asking for an EGM, then even if you have no intentions of going – you owe it to yourself to have these questions answered. For the future of your club.

I agree totally there are far too many unanswered questions about Kirkby I would go as far as saying the "board"are being evasive about it,they have definately gone very quiet/invisible about a lot of things, ground move, transfers Moyses contract etc.

Sooner or later this Board has to realise that they are answerable. Without the fabric the club is nothing. This ground is not what was promised in the brochure.
