Neville needs ankle operation : Reports are suggesting Everton's sudden urge for obscure, right sided defenders comes as a result of Phil Neville needing an ankle operation.

If accurate, it would be another bitter pill for David Moyes to swallow, with Tony Hibbert also sidelined. It is believed Neville has been playing through the pain barrier since the back end of last season.
Mout deal not dead? : Record.pt, a respected Portuguese newspaper, is claiming that Everton could still go back in with an increased offer for Joao Moutinho, although the chance is "remote.

Everton have apparently had one enquiry ignored but could still go back with an offer of 20m Euros according to the paper.
Riera to snub Blues : Albert Riera is set to snub Everton and move to Liverpool after Espanyol and the Anfield club battled out a new deal which reflects the value of Everton's bid.

The Blues had attempted to hijack Liverpool's bid by offering the Spanish club what they actually want for the player, but he has stuck to his guns in his bid to move to Liverpool.

Being from hundreds of miles away, we can expect, in broken English, a statement saying that Liverpool were his boyhood club once he signs.
Come in number 15 : Lars Jacobsen has completed his medical and has signed for Everton Football Club.

He will wear the number 15 jersey and is eligible for Saturday's game against Portsmouth so long as the German FA fill out the paperwork on time.
Moyes chasing Kamil? : A number of newspapers are reporting that David Moyes is looking to bring in Kamil Zayatte from Swiss side BSC Young Boys.

Talk is that the 23 year old Guinea central defender is available for £2.5m and could have been the "other" player at Finch Farm yesterday with Lars Jacobson.
€12.5m release clause triggered? : French website Football.fr are claiming that Everton are about to trigger the release clause for Stephane Mbia from Stade Rennais.

Mbia has been linked to a move to Everton for some time this summer, and has made no secret of his desire to come to the Blues.

Maybe we should "watch this space?"
Are Everton on the verge of a spending spree? : Have your say...
No contract problems, insists Moyes : David Moyes remains adamant that it is only a matter of time before he "gets round" to inking a new deal at Everton.

There have been fears among Evertonians, considering the lack of transfer activity, that Moyes would walk out on the club that gave him his first crack at Premier League management. Moyes however, insists that is not the case.

He said; "I'm fine. There is a contract there, I've spoken to the chairman and when we get around to doing it, it is available to do."
Wright-Phillips signing? : CFCUK.net, a Chelsea fansite with a very close relationship to the London club, has reported that Shaun Wright-Phillips has joined Everton, although official word has come from neither club.

Wright-Phillips has struggled to make the kind of impact at Chelsea that his transfer fee demanded, but has been selected for England since his move from Manchester City.

Signing Wright-Phillips would be a big boost to David Moyes' threadbare midfield and would allow Mikel Arteta to do his best work in the middle of the pitch.
Where would Moyes go? : Joe Jennings asks where David Moyes would go if he fullfilled the paranoia of many supporters and left the club next week.
